3 & ME with Rod

Rod Arters is the Founder of HUMC Pickleball and author of the pickleball humor book Who Just Served?. He launched one of the first church-based pickleball programs in the country in April 2020, proving that fellowship and foot faults can, in fact, coexist.

Rod plays somewhere between the 4.0 and 4.5 level — depending on the day, the lighting, the weather, and whatever other excuse he can think of. He is proudly ambidextrous, which sounds impressive until you realize it mostly means he can miss shots with either hand efficiently. His favorite shot is the ATP.

3 & Me is a private, small-group pickleball experience where you and two others play with Rod Arters and grow your game from the inside out.

You’re on the court for live games while Rod talks through what he’s seeing, anticipating, and deciding — as it happens.  We pause briefly to break down strategy, positioning, shot selection, and partner communication.

This isn’t a clinic or a lecture - it’s pickleball with a running commentary from inside an advanced player’s head. (scary!)

You’ll leave with:

  • 105 minutes of real-time insight into how a higher-level player reads and anticipates the game.

  • On-court play with live breakdowns during actual rallies.

  • Immediate strategy adjustments instead of after-the-fact analysis.
